Jacqueline St. Kitts
Chairperson, Daystrom
Ms Jacquie St. Kitts graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Women’s studies with a minor in Caribbean Studies in 2006. She currently works as a Community Support Worker with the Toronto District School Board and has been a board member since 2006. Jacquie brings to the board her abilities in leadership, creativity, strategic thought processes, adaptability and positive attitude. Jacquie currently serves as Chair of the board and representative from the Daystrom community. Jacquie is a very active volunteer in her community where she is also the current co-chair of the Daystrom Public School Parent Council. She believes that Doorsteps is an asset to its communities through the provision of essential services which she also uses. Jacquie lives with her family in the Daystrom community and is a proud member of the Doorsteps board.
Fouzia Rana
Treasurer, Daystrom
Fouzia Rana immigrated to Canada in 2002 from Pakistan. She holds a Bachelor in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from Pakistan. She upgraded her education and knowledge in social work by doing volunteer work with different social services organizations and getting certification at Humber College and Wellesley Institute. Fouzia has been in the social service sector for the past 6 years. Presently she is working as a settlement counsellor with Access Alliance Multicultural Health and Community Services, a centre that works to promote health and well-being and access to services for immigrants and refugees in Toronto by addressing medical, social, economic and environmental issues. She knows the issues of new immigrants because she has overcome them and is now trying to help them. She joined Doorsteps Neighbourhood Services volunteer Board in 2008 as a representative of the Daystrom community because she is resides there and identifies Doorsteps as a ‘second home’ for new immigrants.
Deepa Jaiprashad
Secretary, Chalkfarm
Miss Deepa Jaiprashad is a recent graduate from York University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. She has been a board member since November 2009. Ms. Jaiprashad brings to the board her skills/abilities in decision-making strategies, strategic planning, interpersonal and communication skills, analytical skills, and leadership qualities. Miss Jaiprashad serves as a representative of the Chalkfarm community where she currently resides and advocates on her community's behalf. Deepa is a very active volunteer in and out of her community where she tutors children and youth in math, English, and science. Deepa believes that Doorsteps is an innovative organization promoting safety, diversity, and citizen engagement amongst community members.
Andrew Hudson
Chalkfarm
Mr. Andrew Hudson, a graduate of the University of Toronto (Political Science and Sociology), has been a member of the Board of Directors of Doorsteps Neighbourhood Services (Doorsteps) for the past two years. He is currently semi-retired and works in Landscaping on a part-time basis. In addition to his responsibilities as a member of the Doorstep’s board, he is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Centre of Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) where he is a member of the Community Relations Committee, the Liaison Committee and the Client and Family Reference Group. Outside of his responsibilities as a board member, he has volunteered for Doorsteps’ special events and office administration support, since 2006. Currently, he also volunteers at the Falstaff Food Bank, Out of the Cold Outreach and as a Case Worker (volunteer) for Gerard Kennedy, M.P. (Parkdale – High Park). His previous volunteer experiences have included working at Runnymede Chronic Care Hospital, United Way Fundraising Campaigns (Public Service Alliance –Barrie, Ontario), and the Sharing Place Food Bank, where he also participated as a Board Member. He is the representative of the Doorstep’s Chalkfarm community where he has resided for the past four years. To Mr. Hudson, Doorsteps is quite a multicultural organization that provides him with the opportunity to give back to the community. It is place where we can share and work towards a very unique and cohesive social group, if we can all work in synergy. He is dedicated to working with our community in the direction of this goal, as he feels it is very achievable.

Claudette Vincent
Falstaff
Claudette Vincent has been a board member since 2010. She went to Yorkdale Adult Learning Center where she acquired a 90 percent average in grade 12 Math, Travel and Tourism, Small business association and parenting 101-102. She received a certificate in all areas. She is also a graduate Humber College with diploma as a Personal Support Worker. She was accepted in the nursing programme which she was unable to do because of being sick from pregnancy. She recovered however and now has a healthy 10 year old son who is her pride and joy. He is one of the reasons she works so hard as a volunteer in her community. Ms Vincent is also a licensed security guard. She is a very active member of the Falstaff community where she helps with the Doorsteps food bank, keeps the community office open when our community worker is away and works on special projects with our partner agencies and community members.
Stephan George
Member at Large
Stephan George is one of our newest board members. He brings to the board enthusiasm, fresh ideas and a wealth of knowledge of the social housing sector. He is a graduate of Seneca College’s School of Social Service Workers. Stephan currently works at Housing Connection, a division of Toronto Community Housing Corporation and plans to pursue a career in law. Stephan believes that Doorsteps is a wonderful organization that provides excellent strength based programming for children, youth, adults and seniors in its three communities.
